A First Look at Crown of Fangs

Take a look. Some nice, interesting and certainly figures for discussion here!

What is truly awesome is that the seated version of Ileosa is fully removable from the throne, which stands alone as an amazing piece of dungeon dressing. That make it fantastic! I'm dying to see the full case incentive!

I like that Paizo comments that this set is to include many in-demand, commonly-encountered foes. That, plus the throne room incentive (with courtiers!), should make this set well worthwhile (assuming they've run out of that gloppy, glossy red Guard/Salamander paint... ;)

Just added three new figures from today's preview. The Dragon Rider is jaw-dropping.

I know many people don't like the "rider" minis like the previous githyanki dragon rider, but I like them and think this one looks great! It's great if they produce a separate mini of the rider in the set so if unmounted you have a mini to represent the character (I guess the same with the dragon).

I absolutely agree about making dismounted versions of the riders.

Ideally, I'd also like to see the riders (& saddles?) removable from the mounts, but not all sculpts lend themselves to that. (And we're moving into true toy territory, then. ;)

"O Might Wizkids...! Hear the plea of your servant, and please...O Please!...have run out of that dense & glossy red you slopped onto your Salamanders & Rusty Dragon Guards...!"

I like the Red Mantis minis! I know some people aren't big fans as they are campaign specific, but who can't come up with a great story to add these crazy looking minis. I love them!

The mantises do look nice, but Pathfinder always has good looking digital renders. I'll reserve judgement till I see how closely they manage to pull it off.

Myself, I prefer green mantises, and this set's color scheme so far could really have benefited from it.

Even so, after the recent rush of new sets every other month, waiting till April seems almost unendurable!

I like the mantises too. If nothing else, they'd be fun proxies in a sci-fi game.

New preview tonight! Three undead minis. I especially love the Death figure. I'm going to have him hover at the edges of combat when things start going bad. Can't wait to see my players' faces.

I like how grim & sedate Death is. And the Geist is intriguing.

Can't say I'm impressed by the Banshee. And why do Icons & Pathfinder keep copying one another? Is it some kind of one-upsmanship thing? I know the Pathfinder people claim they pay no attention to the other line, but I find that hard to believe, especially with sooo many duplications...

And surely someone at WizKids has to be noticing...! Or maybe it's their way of letting their designers try multiple directions with the same concept...except that each seems only a slight variation from the other (I'm looking at you, Mimics!). :P

I very much like the Rakshasa in this set; he even seems to have the semi-traditional backwards hands.

The Fungal Guardian is nice: usable for a less-clean Skeleton or a more-decayed Zombie, as well as some fungus-animated minion.

Three new figures from yesterday's preview. Loving (!!) the new scorpion and Giant Spider. I'll have to see the Dream Spider in-hand, but I like the size a lot.

Everyone needs arachnids. :)

I just hope the Giant Spider is actually Large; Pathfinderminis.com listed it as only Medium...

I'm sorry the small spider is so gaudy...it's pretty, but the world badly needs a simple, Small (or even Tiny!) spider (& I like the notion of putting it into a vertical web: horizontal Smalls can be a bit underwhelming).

Ah, my mistake. I re-checked the preview and it is indeed a medium. Must have been wishful thinking.

Well...pooh!

The miniature world is already drowning in Medium spiders. And this new pose would look great as a Large!

Maybe there's still a Large spider to be revealed, but I doubt it, since the scorpion is already a Large arachnid (and not the most menacing, alas).

Sorry for the delay, but I've just updated the site with last Friday's previews. Two halflings and an awesome boss-level orc that looks really cool and useful.

A good Orc boss or champion.

Can't say I'm impressed with the Halflings, though.

That "male" looks like a murderous gardener. In fact, get rid of the bow & arrows and replace the knife with a sickle, and I'd actually find more use for him AS a gardener! (I like the muttonchops, I admit.)

The female is ok, but there are WAY too many female minis manufactured, for my taste. I tend to run more-medieval games, so adventuresome females are the exception, not anything commonplace. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. And, of course, most gamers are still male (& many younger...), so male PCs predominate. (And by limiting the number of adventuring female NPCs, I limit the amount of role-playing I have to do warding off amorous advances!).

And, since, I think, this predominance of male characters in actual gaming is easily observed in the community, I have trouble believing the plethora of female minis is due to an altruistic desire by the manufacturers to be inclusive and inviting to the (still limited) female contingent. It strikes me as more likely in keeping with the WotC "blind purchase" business model, where you intentionally include less useful cards or minis in order to necessitate further purchases...

Well, that's my two cents. I'll climb off my soapbox now...

I must disagree as I think the Halfling is fantastic. I'm always happy to get a mini that is different from the 10,000 that I already have! Big head and all, I like!

Well, you've got me there: the Halfling IS different than most out there (and halflings often aren't given the best of figures; "Lem" from Pathfinder is the best that comes to mind). I like that both male & female have furry feet (& are barefoot). Since I like his muttonchops & even the weird gardening hat, I guess my complaint about the male is that his weapons don't thrill me (and the giant head is off-putting, but certainly distinctive).

The newly revealed rogue & warrior have some appeal (though, again, females...still, the occasional female player may appreciate having them to choose from...and I can imagine certain male player-types intentionally designing a female character so they may use that silver-breasted Grey Maiden Captain...)

I've always had a fondness for the Horned Devil, so I'm happy to see it in this set. Alas, I doubt I'll find a need for it it play.

The Leukodaemon looks interesting, but I'll definitely never find a use for that.

I notice the Pathfinder line has a penchant for demons & devils.

Since I'm on a quest to collect a mini of every creature in the original 1977 Monster Manual, I'm glad the famous fiends will be available, but, gee whiz...can't we get a nice clump of Shriekers before we start pumping out Tarry Demodands...?

Finally got this week's preview figures from Paizo up on the site (I'll blame GaryCon for my tardiness this week).

Cabbagehead has a lot of possibilities. Can't wait to see that one in hand.

I really like that Thug. I prefer my bandits cheaply equipped.

Cabbagehead is intriguing: he's a very difficult figure to use, because he's sooo incredibly specific; yet, because of that (& how evocative he is), you just wanna MAKE a use for him.

The Emperor I could do without: we need a proper, overweight monarch first; they can provide quirky contrasting characters after we have all the core character-types covered (& King Irovetti doesn't fill the bill, either).

And, thank the heavens: children!

Finally, no more Halflings doing double duty on the battleboard. ;)

And a dog. Not an amazing mutt by any stretch, but something different than the Dungeon Crawler Mastiffs (or the too small offering from Ertl).

I like the soldier, too, but he's too animated for a figure that'll probably see multiples in use.

Nice find! I have the new promo set images up: http://www.miniscollector.com/pathfinder-battles/crown-fangs/court-crims...

There are some more nice reveals on that site. Lots of objects: stocks, a well, statue, a pillar and a pedistal. And is that an undead owlbear in the mix? Awesome!
