Already well-known as one of the leading producers of unpainted gaming figures, Reaper Miniatures began producing prepainted figures in 2007. Legendary Encounters figures were based on existing Reaper sculpts and featured new paint schemes every time a figure was reprinted. The line lasted until 2011, and led to the creation of the highly successful Bones line of unpainted plastic miniatures.

In the Fall of 2015, Reaper plans to reintroduce the Legendary Encounters line via Kickstarter.
